Meanwhile I updated VirtualBox to version 1.6.2 from the Build Service. I still get an ABI error if I try to use the xorg-x11-driver-virtualbox-ose-1.6.2-2.1.x86_64.rpm for openSUSE 11.0. Compiling the Guest-Addition from source and enabling it via 'sax2 -m 0=vboxvideo' works perfectly, but provides mouse cursor integration and dynamic screen resolution only for the actual session.
All in all, the initial issue is not fixed so far. Therefore I reopen the bug and change the severity.
Hi Thomas, This is a really simple problem! I'm using the openSUSE Build Service package (release 2.4, using http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Virtualization:/VirtualBox/openSUS... as the repository and simply did zypper si virtualbox-ose then rpmbuild -bb /usr/src/packages/SPECS/virtualbox-ose.spec) The RPM spec is broken. Regardless of which server version is installed, vboxvideo_drv_71.so is installed into the system (the same with vboxmouse), even though the server version on openSUSE 11.0 is 1.4.0.90. I suppose this can simply be fixed by copying the correct driver (vboxvideo_drv_14.so and vboxmouse_drv_14.so) as built for the correct Xserver version. I did this manually and my server works fine now. In fact, copying the files from inside a KDE session and then going back to KDM, made mouse pointer integration work out of the box. A sax2 -r did pick up the VirtualBox video driver (VBoxVideo is loaded fine). One thing I am kind of annoyed about now is that the SaX2 GUI lists the graphics driver as "VESA Framebuffer Graphics" (this is a concatenation of VendorName and BoardName from the section with device). Is it possible for SaX2 to further differentiate between "vesa" and "vboxvideo" in it's description? I do not know where this data is pulled from... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
