https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211520 Summary: [EXCHANGE BETA] Evolution Password Reset on Connection Failure Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SLED 10 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Evolution AssignedTo: kharish@novell.com ReportedBy: delder@novacoast.com QAContact: anagappan@novell.com When evolution starts up currently, if it is unable to connect to the remote mail server (Groupwise in my particular case), it will ask the user for the password, even if the password has been saved by evolution. This forces the user to re-enter the password frequently (especially for mobile users). There should be no reason for evolution to even attempt to authenticate if it can't connect to the remote mail server. For example, with the current behavior: Start Evolution Evolution attempts to connect to remote mail server Evolution fails to connect to the remote mail server (network down, routing issues, whatever) Evolution pops up authentication dialog box for password to remote account it can't connect to The behavior should be: Start Evolution Evolution attempts to connect to remote mail server Evolution fails to connect to the remote mail server (network down, routing issues, whatever) Evolution pops up warning dialog to user that it couldn't connect Evolution automatically switches to offline mode (maybe not since that's a global setting and a user might have multiple accounts, some of which are accessable) Thanks, Dan -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
