Hello,
Thinkpad R51, opensuse11.1 final release, KDE4, same problem.
btw: modprobe -r thinkpad_acpi in part restores fn+F4/F12 function. Pressing
fn+F4 then is shown in 'lshal -m' output, caught by kde's very own keyboard
shortcut configurator and acknowledged by a PowerDevil notification about going
into standby.
After again loading the thinkpad_acpi module the fn+F4 is caught by lshal and
the kde keyboard configurator, but no PowerDevil message and sadly, no Suspend
to RAM.
Some people running Ubuntu also report thinkpad hotkey problems amenable by
unloading thinkpad_acpi. I don't know whether this is related.
Needless to say, Suspend to RAM/Disk work flawlessly when invoked via
PowerDevil mouse click or the shell.
Other thinkpad keys that work:
fn + F7 (switch display) | Pos1 (brightness up, no osd) | End (brightness down,
no osd) | PgUp (thinklight on/off, no osd)
Volume Up/Down, Mute
