--- Comment #1 from andreas bittner 2011-09-08 19:38:59 UTC ---
the machine is completely broken,
rebooted again another attempt to 3.1rc5, all the /var/log/.... (lastlog,
messages, ...) seem to have binary mess inside at the end of the files, i cant
tail nor cat those files, only binary error warnings come up.
on alt+f10 i see weird error still at the bootup process of kernel messages:
linux kernel:
/usr/src/packages/BUILD/kernel-default-3.1.rc5/linux-3.1-rc5/drivers/rtc/hctosys.c:
unable to open rtc device (rtc0)
....
and then loads of systemd error messages: cannot add this and that dependency,
hwclock-load.service, failed to open /dev/autofs.....
loads of fail. fail everything..... odd enough the standard logon screen of kde
or whatever it is, with my one testuser default icon and mouse cursor (X11)
comes up normally.
alt+f1 displays endless other messages this time: countless lines of always the
same: iptables v1.4.12.1: cant initialize iptables table filter, table does not
exist, do you need to insmod? perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be
upgraded.......
bottom line: with the zypper up and the kernel package with 3.1rc5, this system
is definitely hosed
