Summary|hp-systray crashing at |hp-systray may fail to
|start |start when gnome-panel with
| |tray is not yet running
--- Comment #2 from Johannes Meixner 2009-12-08 11:44:37 UTC ---
"doesn't heppen every time, but quite often"
may indicate something like a race condition
(i.e. gnome-panel startup too slow).
hp-systray is automatically started via
/etc/xdg/autostart/hplip-systray.desktop
which contains:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
[Desktop Entry]
X-SuSE-translate=true
Version=0.6
Type=Application
Name=HP System Tray Service
GenericName=Printer Status Applet
Comment=HP System Tray Service
Exec=hp-systray
Icon=/usr/share/hplip/data/images/128x128/hp_logo.png
Terminal=false
Categories=Application;Utility;
X-KDE-StartupNotify=false
StartupNotify=false
--------------------------------------------------------------------
I am not at all a desktop expert.
I neither see nor know what I might fix therein.
From my point of view it looks more like a Gnome issue
when Gnome launches applications but its base desktop stuff
is not yet up and running.
