http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=539018 Summary: init 3 does not kill Xorg Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Milestone 7 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: estellnb@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/4.3; Linux) KHTML/4.3.1 (like Gecko) SUSE Formerly it has always been possible to kill and restart an X-session by issuing init 3 & init 5. That has often been necessary (hangs, crashes, screen misconfigs, etc.). Now the X server keeps running if I issue an init 3. Please tell me on how to evoke the old behaviour. If we do not get the old behaviour back please put into the release notes how to forcedly stop and restart X from now on. I currently have to reboot in order to get kdm running again by init after switching to console mode (init 5 does not help).
