Confirming this. I just tracked down my own installation, and after this I
found you here.
I installed the os103 gnome cd into vmware. Then installed the following rpm's
by hand and tried to do an init 3 + init 5 after each of them:
+ xorg-x11-7.2-135.4.i586.rpm -> ok
+ xorg-x11-Xvnc-7.1-91.1.i586.rpm -> ok
+ xorg-x11-libs-7.2-103.2.i586.rpm -> ok
+ xorg-x11-libxcb-7.2-51.2.i586.rpm -> ok
+ xorg-x11-server-7.2-143.6.i586.rpm -> ok
+ xorg-x11-server-extra-7.2-143.6.i586.rpm -> ok
+ gdm-lang-2.20.0-37.6.i586.rpm (from
download.opensuse.org/repositories/GNOME:/STABLE/i586/) -> ok
+ gdm-2.20.0-8.2.i586.rpm -> X crashes
(I tried to remove gdm-lang, thinking that maybe it's the source of the
problem, but the behaviour didn't change.)
Running 'startx' from the console starts X, so the gdm is faulty.
rpm -Uvh --oldpackage /media/SU1030.001/suse/i586/gdm-2.20.0-7.i586.rpm --> gdm
works again.
Hope that helps,
Ervin
