--- Comment #6 from Jörg Hermsdorf
Could you check if there is a Modeline defined in /etc/X11/xorg.conf after running SaX2? If yes, please remove it. This can happen if your monitor does not support DDC. Please attach /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log. No, there's no Modeline in my xorg.conf. See the attached file.
I have to make a correction to my previous post, the framebuffer is already dead when I return from SAX by hitting 'Save Configuration'. I can still login via SSH and switch to runlevel 5, which brings up the Xserver. If I reboot, framebuffer and Xserver seem to work. Strange, I did this procedure 10 times tonight and after every reboot only the framebuffer was back again, but the Xserver was black. Now they both seem to work...
Sure that you did use the packages from the ATI repository and did not build the RPMs yourself? No, in previous versions (openSUSE 10.2) the fglrx driver in the ATI repository was never up to date, so I always downloaded the latest installer from the ATI/AMD website and followed the instructions at http://en.opensuse.org/ATI.
Was / is there a difference between the rpm package that is build by the ATI installer and the rpms in the ATI repository? I thought the only difference is, that the rpms in the ATI repository already contain the ready build kernel module for the recent kernel. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
