at least on my HW mixer models (i didn't see any sw mixer models until now) i
only get this double adjustment with our thinkpad-keys / when those events are
passed on. And this is also mentioned in the thinkpad-keys code (disabled
ATM).. as for HW mixers then then volume keypresses get ignored. Not sure why
we actually compile(d) thinkpad-keys for software-mixers and not for hardware
mixers as those seem much more common. But anyway...
Regarding thinkpad-acpi: you just have to enable the full 32-bit mask (which -
due to a bug in the sysfs code of thinkpad-acpi - is currently only possible
through procfs). So, a simple
echo -en "0xffffffff" >/proc/acpi/ibm/hotkey
should usually do (if hotkey is enabled, not blocked by bios....). But all that
is simple to check'n'do in the startscript of hotkey-setup.
