https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=257628 Summary: German translations error in installer Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Translations AssignedTo: ke@novell.com ReportedBy: tilman@imap.cc QAContact: ke@novell.com During normal German GUI installation, on the page "Installationseinstellungen" (Installation Settings), clicking the "System" link and then, on page "Erkannte Hardware" (Detected Hardware), the button "Systemeinstellungen" (System Settings) opens a page "Systemeinstellungen" with two tabs, "Einrichten der PCI ID" (PCI ID Configuration) and "Kernel-Einstellungen" (Kernel Settings). There are several mistranslations on this page: - "Einrichten der PCI ID" reads as if a single PCI ID was to be set up for the system, which is misleading. That tab should best be labeled simply "PCI-IDs" (note plural "s" - no apostrophe please!) Adding something like "Einrichten", even if done correctly, just amounts to stating the obvious. - On the "PCI IDs" tab, on the dropdown list for the "Hinzufügen" (Add) button, the entry "In Liste" (In List) is confusing. "Aus Liste" (From List) would be more appropriate. - On the "Kernel-Einstellungen" tab, there is a checkbox labeled "SysRq-Schlüssel aktivieren", which is wrong. "Schlüssel" is the translation for "key for a lock" or "key for encryption", but not for "key on a keyboard". The correct label would be "SysRq-Taste aktivieren". Interestingly, the corresponding help text starts out using "Schlüssel" as the translation for "key", too, but switches to "Taste" halfway down. No big deal, as most German PC users are rather experienced in translating incomprehensible texts back to English literally in order to find out what the author might have wanted to say; but still somewhat embarrassing for a distribution with German roots. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
