source-code of program to behave like a light real-time program
This is the test program.
Compile it with ´gcc rt-benchmark.c -o rt-benchmark -lrt´.
To reproduce:
1) Execute ´rt-benchmark -h´ to get the idea.
2) Execute ´rt-benchmark´, optionally as root, optionally with more arguments.
3) Wait till OpenSuSE 11.3 hangs.
4) Interrupt the computer and kill rt-benchmark shortly after (let it run to
miss its deadline at least once).
5) Observe by the timings output by rt-benchmark, that it did not run while the
computer hang. If so, and rt-benchmark did not fail to run with maximum
priority and all that, OpenSuSE 11.3 is by definition useless as a real-time
OS.
Tip: ´sudo rt-benchmark t0.0001 d0.0001´ hangs my computer almost instantly.
