--- Comment #28 from Y L 2010-05-27 10:13:22 UTC ---
It seems that recently updated kernels in 11.2 do not integrate DSDT override
in .config and/or related kernel patch:
****
yann@linux-7zua:~> tail -10 /etc/sysconfig/kernel
ACPI_DSDT="/boot/DSDT.aml"
## Type: string(yes)
## Default: ""
#
# Skip doing a minimal preparation of the /usr/src/linux source tree so
# that most header files can be directly included. If set, /usr/src/linux
# will not be touched.
#
SKIP_RUNNING_KERNEL=""
yann@linux-7zua:~> uname -r
2.6.31.12-0.2-pae
yann@linux-7zua:~> dmesg |grep -i dsdt
[ 0.000000] ACPI: DSDT 2fff0280 01A0C (v01 VBOX VBOXBIOS 00000002 INTL
20050309)
[ 0.216652] ACPI: EC: Look up EC in DSDT
****
=> custom /boot/DSDT.aml, that should be loaded after launching mkinitrd
(prints doing so saying successfull in integrate this DSDT in initrd)+reboot,
is not loaded.
Probable cause:
****
yann@linux-7zua:~> grep DSDT /boot/config*
/boot/config-2.6.31.12-0.2-default:CONFIG_ACPI_CUSTOM_DSDT_FILE=""
/boot/config-2.6.31.12-0.2-default:# CONFIG_ACPI_CUSTOM_DSDT is not set
/boot/config-2.6.31.12-0.2-pae:CONFIG_ACPI_CUSTOM_DSDT_FILE=""
/boot/config-2.6.31.12-0.2-pae:# CONFIG_ACPI_CUSTOM_DSDT is not set
****
As you can see: CONFIG_ACPI_CUSTOM_DSDT is not set in both standard and pae
kernels...
That should have been missed somewhere.
Also, don't forget to propagate this patch for 11.3: A lot of ubuntu 8.04 LTS
willing to upgrade to last 10.04 LTS cannot do so because canonical is not
willing to maintain this patch.
So a lot of LTS users needing this patch are willing to go opensuse for 11.3,
if it's still there!
Regards
