https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=331930 Summary: Fatal error while activating rtl8187 kernel module wireless device Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: 64bit OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: gilles.sabourin@free.fr QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer I own an asus p5k-e wifi/ap motherboard with an embedded Realtek 8187 chipset. So, I have installed rtl8187-kmp-default-20070806_2.6.22.5_31-2 kernel module bundled with opensuse 10.3 and see that this network card is not detected in yast. In a terminal, I decided to check myself the status of this device : linux-rny4:~ # lsmod | grep rtl8187 linux-rny4:~ # [nothing] linux-rny4:~ # modprobe rtl8187 FATAL: Error inserting rtl8187 (/lib/modules/2.6.22.5-31-default/updates/rtl8187.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) linux-rny4:~ # dmesg .. .. .. rtl8187: Unknown symbol eeprom_93cx6_multiread rtl8187: Unknown symbol eeprom_93cx6_read linux-rny4:~ # I haven't read anything in release notes about that problem. Moreover, I took also this driver from a subversion repository at https://rtl-wifi.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/rtl-wifi/ , and I am not able to compile it. Seems that the compiler is more and more requiring on the syntax. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
