Its actually not necessarily HP equipment. I have another laptop and the funny
thing is that it has exactly the same audio card as the emachines one, but
different chipset. Well, on that HP the audio was working perfectly just
recompiling ALSA drivers. Conversely, the other laptop was not an emachines but
had a hell of problems with sound.
You dont need to remove the sound card reference using YAST, just recompile
applying the patch and forget about Yast configuration.
My experience is that whenever there are sound problems, rarely you can solve
in yast, its more useful to recompile drivers manually. Of course not a rule,
but statistically i have seen this.
