Is there a way in autoyast to change the default boot kernel? [...] it boots the default kernel, while I would prefer the pae one (it is sled11 sp1, and default, pae and xen are all installed).
I know I can change /boot/grub/menu.lst with a single sed command but maybe there is a more sophisticated solution for this.
If you only want to install the pae kernel, try <kernel>. This should automagically configure the bootloader accordingly. (I have not veryfied this recently, but despite my bad memory, I'm pretty sure this worked in the past.)
