[opensuse-arm] New package: sunxi-tools
Hello, In my ongoing quest to clean up our ARM packages I have submitted the sunxi-tools package from devel:ARM:Factory:Contrib:sunxi to hardware project and am proposing its inclusion in Factory. https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/359205 Among others, its tools are used for (de)compiling Allwinner script.bin files (a predecessor/alternative to FDT files) or for booting via USB. For now I made Dirk and myself maintainers, Dirk being the original packager and me the last one to update. I've updated it to the latest release and cleaned up the spec file, preparing it for aarch64. For anyone experimenting with the Pine64 additional patches may be needed, I could not test that myself (yet). Matthias? As these tools are primarily for board bring-up, I do not see a need to add an _aggregate in :Contrib:sunxi. Seeing that the last two updates were done by myself, it doesn't seem to be in heavy use anyway. With this package gone, there are two main ones left in https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/devel:ARM:Factory:Contrib:sunxi * kernel-sun4i, last updated two years ago, and * u-boot-hyundaia7hd, not updated for more than a year (v2014.04). In early 2015 Hyundai_A7HD config was merged into U-Boot so I have submitted an SR to enable it in the official package. Once it's accepted and _links are in place, we can delete the old Contrib package. https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/359208 JeOS-cubieboard and JeOS-cubieboard2 are built in Factory these days, and given the old state of the kernel I assume it is no longer used? If someone wants to play with Mali then a KMP may be a better approach. Opinions, objections? Initial Utgard and Midgard KMPs are now available in: https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/devel:ARM:Factory:Contrib:Mali They're my first KMPs, so there may be some packaging glitches, but at least they finally build now, for both Tumbleweed and Leap. Untested. In order to actually try them, you'll need a Device Tree with Mali node added according to the bindings in the tarball. I.e., either patch your SoC's .dtsi file and build a new .dtb for your board or, maybe easier looking forward, extend your local boot.scr script to insert that node at boot time via "dtb" commands. Not yet packaged is xf86-video-mali, so you'll need to use fbdev. With those KMPs in place, I have double-checked that cubieboard and cubieboard2 images are getting built in Factory: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE:Factory:ARM/JeOS-cubieboard https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE:Factory:ARM/JeOS-cubieboard... There was no link diff even for using the local Contrib repo, so entirely duplicate apparently. The Wiki page pointed to the official location, so did not need an update for dropping them. https://en.opensuse.org/HCL:CubieBoard https://en.opensuse.org/HCL:CubieBoard2 kernel-source and kernel-sun4i (3.4.29) failed to build due to mali and gcc5 respectively, so dropping them now. Board support will be broader in the Tumbleweed kernel, and Mali functionality can be added via KMP. u-boot-hyundaia7hd failed to build due to gcc5, and https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/359208 has been reviewed by Guillaume and is just waiting on Dirk to accept and set up the _link, so dropping it here. https://en.opensuse.org/Category:ARM_devices does not list an HCL page for that device that would need updating. This brings :Factory:Contrib:sunxi down to zero packages, saving on our precious build power and making room for any temporary Pine64 packages. https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/devel:ARM:Factory:Contrib:sunxi Cheers, Andreas -- SUSE Linux GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Graham Norton; HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org
