Sorry for replying late here.
I don't think anyone even remotely disagrees. We are currently only a limited amount of people, and getting only a single architecture with only a very limited amount of boards up and rolling is already challenging. So we had to take some cuts on what we're looking at here and there. That doesn't mean we don't want armv5, just that it won't be Dirk, Adrian or me spending too much time to get it working :).
So yes, pull up your sleeves, dive into the code and get dirty :). We more than welcome any contributor who gets the armv5 port working great for the Raspberry PI. The last big build blocker that I was aware of was boost, but I'm not sure what the current state is there.
Bernhard, do you have an armv5 todo list? It sounds as if there are some volunteers who want to help make the armv5 port fly :)
http://www.zq1.de/~bernhard/linux/opensuse/raspberrypi-opensuse-20120730.img... (account should be root:linux) was not built with kiwi, but sort of worked for me and ciaran got it working by replacing bootcode.bin with latest github version: https://plus.google.com/113239224590825114668/posts/CuLL8rhy2nF If we want to make this better, we need to: 1. make a propwer raspberry kernel package in OBS instead of reusing debian's kernel. 2. find/solve the illegal instruction problem in latest zypper http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-arm/2012-07/msg00087.html 3. make a generic armv5 kiwi image build https://build.opensuse.org/project/monitor?arch_armv5el=1&defaults=0&project=openSUSE%3AFactory%3AARM&repo_images_armv5=1&unresolvable=1 4. make a special pi kiwi image that includes bootloader+kernel Ciao Bernhard M. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.19 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAlAfgZAACgkQSTYLOx37oWTbpQCfVB/nDdj2fyvIFpzVjUGBWeCy 0F4AoIv98wCuYJAG1whIs/jIU+05rxVg =qn53 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org
