Hi!
After installing SuSE 9.2 I have problems to use Kontact. Sometimes I change the service (example from E-Mail to Calendar, Notes to News....) Kontact crashes. It crashes nearly every time if I close the program. I have had the same problems with the 9.1-Distro after updating KDE to 3.3. But here I have used older 3.3 packets and it worked.
Hi Trish - maybe it is bug#90815 in Kontact and is thus probably not specific for 64bit, so a bit OT here. It might be a good idea to browse through the kdepim mailing list archive and/or post a message there. The bug is claimed to be fixed in the development version, but I don't think it is worked in current packages. You should ask at the kdepim list for that. Anyway, I had a similar behaviour (using SuSE9.1 64bit + 3.3.1-6 KDE packages), although for me Kontact crashes when I change from mail to other applications. Once that had happened it crashed always at startup trying to open the mail application. I don't have crashes when I close the program. The crashes started when I excluded one mail server from 'Check Mail' but didn't exclude the other. It was sometime ago, but if memory serves right I "solved" it by doing the following: 1. Start kmail as a stand alone 2. Start Kontact 3. In Kontact go to 'Notes' 4.a) Close Kmail b) Close Kontact 5. Start Kontact again I'm not sure of the sequence in point 4, maybe it was vice versa (and maybe it is not important). In the bug description for bug #90815 (@ bugs.kde.org) some other way to solve this is described which I don't remember and which didn't work for me.
