Hi, openSUSE 13.1 does not seem to offer any wiki engine as part of the release. I would like to improve on that by contributing a package of the MoinMoin wiki engine to Factory. Provided that the window is still open, I hope it can be included in the upcoming release 13.2. Hi Here is the live DVD with working live-installer: http://download.opensuse-education.org/~cyberorg/openSUSE-13.2-livecd-gnome… yast2-live-installer package is NOT broken, yast stuff around it was broken, here are the bugs to track, with trivial fixes to those workaround: bugs 890800, 876555 and 890834 The DVD is created using Factory and YaST:Head repos of yesterday(7 Aug). If someone finds any issue with live installer please file bug report on bugzilla, I am sure YaST team is quite capable in dealing with it and there is plenty of time to fix those before 13.2 is out. Would it be possible to put it through openqa to see everything works? It would have to win in a fair competition, persuade users that it's better than other solutions. But the very basic idea of systemd is to avoid fair competition, to appeal to a narrow group of managers who throw the competition out of their distributions and take the choice away from users. I really don't see a chance to fix this basic design fault as long as people behind systemd and people forcing systemd upon distributions consider it a goal rather than a fault. Just look what Cristian Rodríguez writes - according to him, it's best to have only one solution for every task. And unfortunately, people like him drive OpenSuSE these days. For me, one of the main reasons to use Linux was the freedom of choice, if I wanted a world where some manager gives me only The Right Way (TM), I would stay with DOS and Windows. People behind systemd and distribution managers are taking the freedom of choice away from me. Therefore I don't want to build their brave new world and I'm not going to. You may consider work on sanitized OpenSuSE a waste of time, for me it's the only work (on OpenSuSE) that makes sense today. The above problems are not something that needs handling in the way it is being done. ALL of the process tracking could have been handled through the existing audit facilities which allow process tracking -- ownership who spawned what. To claim he needs process 1 to track that demonstrates his ignorance of existing facilities. It sounds like he had some problems, came up with his own solutions in a vacuum and didn't ask what existing methods might already deal with some of them. A service-control manager has been a long time coming -- but having it manage boot, power, time, system priorities... that's way too much. I want to manage most of those other things. If he'd come up with separate products that could be integrated into existing frameworks, it wouldn't have been an issue. What is at issue is that it is ALL or nothing. I don't need 75% of what he's offering. I don't want to give up control of everything he is claiming for his own, in order to get even a 10% benefit. It makes it too hard for me to manage my system. It makes it easier for others to take over my system and manage it for me without my consent -- in ways much more invasive than what Microsoft does. That has me very concerned. His problem list, like his myth list seems padded with strawmen or nice toppings. He does all this and still don't have a solid unified desktop... bleh! [opensuse-factory] Release candidates in Factory

Dear all, I would love to use Factory, since I like to get the latest and greatest software. Before coming to openSUSE, I was an ArchLinux user. The main reason for coming to openSUSE was the quest to get a system with recent but stable software. Now I would like to test Factory and I have enough Linux experience to deal with occasional issues, but what I have seen worries me: Factory currently offers a release candidate of the kernel (3.16.0-rc7). If Factory wants to stop being a development and test release, I think it is important to release only packages that have been declared stable by the upstream developers. Beta and RC are still testing versions and do not belong in a rolling release in my opinion. [opensuse-factory] How to use use icons from some theme without uploading it?

Hi. If I set an icon in a .desktop file I have to upload it. For example, I want to use preferences-desktop-keyboard-shortcuts from gnome's icon theme. I think that this doesn't have to be necessary and I'm doing something wrong. Am I right? What is the proper way to do this? I'm sure opinions will be heard - let's collect them and see what the 'right thing to do(tm)' will look like. [opensuse-factory] Safe to update build 117 of factory?

Hi, I have installed build 117 of factory on my wife's laptop, as a new installation. Though I didn't do a thorough test, everything seems to work as expected in the last few weeks, except for sound, which is always troublesome in my experience. [opensuse-factory] Kmail 4.14.beta1 problems

I update my Factory installation this week end. Kmail is experiencing several issue. 1) When retrieving mail, it will bring back duplicates of all emails I have received since installing kmail on 13.2.(this includes mail I have deleted or marked as read. It appears the server is not being told the mail was deleted or read. Is there any way I can check and see if the deletion or read indicator is being set? ( I have 13.1 Kmail on my other disk and it does not get the duplicate emails multiple times. 2) After deleting all the mail in the database using Akonadi console, all the message are gone. Kmail 4.14 still thinks there is one message left with the following error shown om the status line at the bottom of screen: [Quote] Unable to fetch item from backend (collection -1) : Unable to retrieve item from resource: <html>Invalid item retrieved</html> [/Quote] I have reinstalled Kmail a couple of times. No Help. Where do I report bugs for KDE mail from factory? Bugzilla or up stream? Thanks for any help. It is required by https://github.com/Swordifish90/cool-old-term I would like to promote so I would like to move /usr/bin/qmlscene to the main library subpackage or to the separate one. Is it OK? Hi I would like to introduce python3-pylast to Factory. The package currently is maintained in the devel:languages:python3 repository. This is a python interface to Last.fm and other api-compatible websites such as Libre.fm. The purpose of python3-pylast in factory is for use with the latest version of the Pithos (Pandora Radio client for the GNOME Desktop) package developed in GNOME:Apps and residing in factory. The pylast functionality was split out from the versions > 0.3.17 and Pithos is now at 1.0.0 so is necessary for this version to remain in factory. I've seen this referenced a bunch of times, but I don't know how to resolve it. I've done this: zypper clean --all zypper -v up and I'm using factory (not 13.2) - per the wiki page of how to run Factory. I upgrade from openSUSE 13.2 openSUSE-Factory-DVD-x86_64- Snapshot20140626-Media to the factory version on Friday. Prior to up grade KDE was working fine. Now a lot of KDE applications and no KDE applications are getting the following error: At the time of this message I was trying to start SeaMonkey by clicking the Icon on the kick off menu bar. The command being used by the Icon is: [Code] seamonkey %u [/Code] [Quote] KDEInit could not launch '/usr/lib64/kde4/libexec/kdesu [/Quote] kdesu permissions are: root:root 644 is executable. This occurs randomly. I've seen it on SeaMonkey, I think it's my problem with Kwallet never letting me create a wallet. Also have occurred on KNode. Is anyone else seeing this or is there a way to log the complete application startup? What else can I check so I can report a bug if necessary? Hi, So I moved from Tumbleweed to Factory today and since then VLC player is not working. It complains "No suitable decoder module". I have only factory repo urls in my zypper. And I did a zypper dup for installation. Do I need to add any other repo for getting a working VLC player with all codecs ?
