Just thought I would pass on the latest with the RS690M card. It no longer black-screens on X startup, which is good news. What happens now is that X appears to start, you get the xcursor and you can momentarily see the display. But then it looks like it shuts itself down just as quickly. Here is the tail end of the log from opensuse 11.2 on my x86_64 laptop:
Does the screen go in power-save mode, or stays "actively" black? The Xserver still seems to run, according to the log. Is the machine still accessible by network?
Something seems to be calling CloseScreen():

If yes, please try to run 'X -logverbose 7 -retro'. It might just be that you stumble into the -retro issue :-]

Then ? Unload Module??
Yes, because it's apparently not used.
rhdRestore() only gets called when either LeaveVT() or CloseScreen() is called. So the Xserver is not actually running any more. Cheers, Egbert. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org
