just out of curiosity: does this problem also exist on x86_64 installations or is this a graphic BIOS problem on the ASUS?
Are there any BIOS updates available?
Is this bug reported to ASUS? I had a problem a few years ago with a BIOS bug on an Asus mb and they needed 'only' 2 month to release a new BIOS.
At least I can confirm that I have no such problem with 4GB in my Sony (HD3470 mobility running with F10-x86_64) so as the xorg wiki says it is not likely to be a radeonhd bug.

Betreff: [radeonhd] reduce the amount of RAM installed on newer ASUS laptops An: radeonhd@opensuse.org Datum: Donnerstag, 19. Februar 2009, 12:55 hello all, I've just suscribed myself to this list due to a problem I have with an ATI radeon HD3470, finally I found radeonhd and more precisely the "Known Bugs & Limitations" section which textullay says:
"**Newer ASUS laptops with more than 2GB of memory** ... several reports about getting RadeonHD to work on Linux on ASUS laptops ... --> For now the only work around is to **reduce the amount of RAM installed to 2GB or less**"
I will infinitely appreciate if somebody can give me a hand or some guidance on how to reduce the amount of RAM installed, it's not matter of radeonhd it is more linux usage I think =)
Thanks in advance.
Kind regards, ViK
