Hi, I tried building the r6xx-r7xx-support branch of radeonhd driver from git (with dri2parse and mesa/drm as well), running Ubuntu Jaunty on a Dell Studio 17 laptop with an integrated 3650HD card. I get this message in Xorg.0.log: [ 0.581439] (II) RADEONHD(0): Unknown card detected: 0x9591:0x1028:0x0256. If - and only if - your card does not work or does not work optimally please contact radeonhd@opensuse.org to help rectify this. Use the subject: 0x9591:0x1028:0x0256: <name of board> and *please* describe the problems you are seeing in your message. Now, things *are* running, with performance just below what I got from the xf86-video-ati driver that Jaunty selects by default (it looks like a prerelease build of 1.6.0). However, video scaling performance is not very good, resizing windows is very choppy and while dragging a window, the vertical refresh is clearly visible and slow. Since I'm not quite sure what the state of video acceleration is on r6xx, I don't know if this is to be expected, or worse. Below is lspci -v for the device (and the HDMI audio thingie it has too, not that I think you'll be interested in that). xorg.conf: http://paste.ubuntu.com/118369/ Xorg.0.log: http://paste.ubuntu.com/118370/ Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help. I'm interested in working on the driver, but don't know where to start. // Kristoffer deceiver.g@gmail.com 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3650 Subsystem: Dell Device 0256 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 4 Memory at e0000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] I/O ports at ee00 [size=256] Memory at f6df0000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K] [virtual] Expansion ROM at f6d00000 [disabled] [size=128K] Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 3 Capabilities: [58] Express Legacy Endpoint, MSI 00 Capabilities: [a0] Message Signalled Interrupts: Mask- 64bit+ Queue=0/0 Enable- Capabilities: [100] Vendor Specific Information <?> 01:00.1 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc RV635 Audio device [Radeon HD 3600 Series] Subsystem: Dell Device 0256 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 17 Memory at f6dec000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K] Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 3 Capabilities: [58] Express Legacy Endpoint, MSI 00 Capabilities: [a0] Message Signalled Interrupts: Mask- 64bit+ Queue=0/0 Enable- Capabilities: [100] Vendor Specific Information <?> Kernel driver in use: HDA Intel Kernel modules: snd-hda-intel -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org
