update 2008-06-17: the text corruption is when I switch back from the X server to the virtual terminal console, and the pattern that a log of characters get set changes each boot Is anyone able to tell me a good way to start debugging this? Many thanks, Daniel --- I'm experiencing text corruption on the VT console with my Radeon HD 3870/RV670-based card and the RadeonHD 1.2.1 driver. Particular characters, including the space characters are incorrectly initialised (ubuntu loads a new console font) - they all share the same pattern, and it's always the same across boots. The problem does not reproduce with David Airlie's ati driver or AMD's fglrx driver. I'm using an Intel G35 (PCIe gen1) chipset, 2.6.25 kernel on x86-64 Ubuntu 8.04 HH plus the http://ppa.launchpad.net/tormodvolden/ubuntu repository, thus radeonhd version is '1.2.1+git20080526.b6b1c280-0ubuntu0tormod'. Kernel config and Xorg logs available on request. Let me know if you'd like more information and/or a screen capture. Thanks!
