Hi,
I thought I'd share with the list the problems of using +rw as an archive medium. Disks I've written about 6 months ago seem to have problems reading.
Also even if you just mount media read only the seem to suffer from the laser reading and can degrade whist you use them, e.g. reading a part of the disk repeatedly causes the disk to fail at that point. If you do read only.. it doesn't, I have very used discs about 6xs or more months ago, and no problems about, just with 1, that start to have bad links, but was a hardware driver (usb-scsi) problem. In fact there are many media, that has a cheap substrate that gots wiped while time tick, and of course dust on hardware produce the same... I might just be very unlucky but this seems true for a few types of media I own. Not for me...... did you really buy all of the ceap ones?.
