Any suggestions on a solder sucker? I always envisioned something like a baby-nostril sucker that has a heat-resistent tip where you melt the solder as best you can and suck the melted solder out of each prong solder hole and then solder a new cap in.
Braided copper works quite well, it's all I've ever used.
I've used both sucker and wick, but in general I think the wick method is more reliable. The last time I used a sucker was to "suck" fleas off our Chihuahua, and even that didn't work very well. It was fun though. The dog liked it too.
BTW, this is the one I've been using for decades: Edsyn Deluxe Soldapullt, Heavy Duty, High Vacuum, ESD It's "improved" from the original version in that the plunger is contained. With the old model (which I actually preferred) you could smack yourself in the eyeball if you weren't careful. I'd guess that some lawyers became very rich before Edsyn changed the design. I think the old one "sucked" a little bit more vigorously. Regards, Lew -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
