Well, that's what I told you, that some hp printers can be configured without hplip -- I'm unsure if I got the spelling right ;-) As long as a printer speaks postscript, it can be done without a driver. So, your printer has a function to be turned on from software, and previously you were using that. Now, you have to use the button.
