Hmm, not so impressive after all - direct downloads from mirror.switch.ch and ftp.gwdg.de over ipv6 are both significantly faster than "aria2c -s10".
Looking at a "aria2c http...", it has connections to
ftp.opensuse.org hammurabi.acc.umu.se mirror.library.ucy.ac.cy ftp.kddlabs.co.jp 198.49.95.5 6bone.informatik.uni-leipzig.de gensho.acc.umu.se
Sweden, Japan, Cyprus and the US? Those are most definitely not the fastest mirrors available.
The info to use those mirrors is handed out to aria2c by mirror brain...
Not sure what aria2c is supposed to do, but that's not overly useful nor impressive. Seems to me as if aria2c is totally dependent on the bogus information handed out by our mirrorbrain @ download.opensuse.org.
Yes, exactly - I read this part of your comment later :-) But it should try to connect to more mirrors till it fills the pipe. However, if it takes a minute on your setup, it has very little time to find out. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 13.1 x86_64 "Bottle" at Telcontar)
