I do not understand what I'm doing wrong, because OpenJDK 8 Update 91 (1.8.0.91) is recommended by upstream but I can only get 8 Update 77. What I need the browser plugin (icedtea-web). OpenJDK 8 Update 9 (1.8.0.92) is also good.
From the upstream site:
{{{ https://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp Verifying Java Version A newer version of Java is available
Please click the download button to get the recommended Java for your computer. Your Java version: Version 8 Update 77
Notice that from that site you do not get openJDK. That's Oracle's Java, currently at 8.91
Yes, thanks.
Download page is here (JRE):
https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
or for the JDK:
https://www.java.com/en/download/faq/develop.xml then go to the link in the text that says "JDK downloads.", currently: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index-jsp-138363.htm...
Remember, this is not OpenJDK, nor iced-tea.
No, I use those sites just to test. I am using OpenJDK and IcedTea-Web-1.6.2 as in OS Tumbleweed. Building the plugin is fast and easy: http://icedtea.classpath.org/download/source/icedtea-web-1.6.2.tar.gz http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/svn/xsoft/icedtea-web.html compiled with OpenJDK-1.8.0.77 (I was needing OpenJDK-1.8.0.92 including devel). More problematic (mainly in building time) is OpenJDK. http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/svn/general/openjdk.html -- []s, Fernando -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
