I am unconvinced by the argument that naive idiots are going to install openSuse Linux beside or to replace their MS-Windows system, no matter how dis-satisfied they are with W/8 or W/8 or how alienated they are by W/10. The Computer Press doesn't seem to emphasise openSuse over other versions of Linux, quite the contrary. Perhaps the followers of Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols might move to Mint which he raves about, or ubuntu, which the herd seems to prefer, or even Fedora which he mentions, but openSuse doesn't seem on his radar. http://www.zdnet.com/article/best-linux-desktop-of-2014-linux-mint-17-1/ http://www.zdnet.com/article/coreos-is-bringing-googles-kubernetes-to-the-en... http://www.zdnet.com/pictures/six-clicks-for-beginners-with-ubuntu-15-04-viv... http://www.zdnet.com/article/hands-on-with-ubuntu-15-04/ See also, from similar sources http://www.zdnet.com/article/tips-from-the-frontline-switching-operating-sys... http://www.zdnet.com/article/linux-storage-futures/ http://www.zdnet.com/article/btrfs-hands-on-exploring-the-error-recovery-fea... I don't think Linux is going be the first choice for many, outside 3rd world areas where licensing is an economic issue. http://www.zdnet.com/article/linux-an-operating-system-for-all-ages/ I don't see the technically naive giving up Windows for Linux. Not do I see someone adopting openSuse just because its there, just because Linux was mentioned in an (e-)magazine article. I may be more aggressive than many of the older generation in 'researching', googling and such, but I see using google and wikipedia and the like as a first line of enquiry, and, sadly an authoritative one[1], when it comes to any question. But I don't see people moving to Linux or openSuse without doing some background research, without looking at the options. yea, yea, yea, it us 'know it alls" who breeze though the install without paying much attention. BTDT. Been surprised at what i got, but it was my own fault for not paying attention. It when I do unfamiliar things I pay more attention.
