darktable 1.6.0 is exactly what I was looking for.
After some experimenting I found out that darktable always makes up a new directory with the import date, thus resulting in possible double imports. :-(
Importing as importing into darktable's catalogue or importing as "copying" to disk from camera/card? Darktable provides full control of the catalogue import structure in the manner *you* configure. I cannot speak nor have I tried using darktable to copy from camera/card to disk. I use the cl, or mc to copy into a directory I have made in the manner I prefer.
Could not find anything in darktable to stop that. "override today's date" (import settings) does not work in darktable 1.6.0 .
There are later versions of darktable available, http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/toganm:/photography/openSUSE... I use this repo and have for some time w/o problem.
So I took a look at shotwell and this seems to be more comfortable for importing.
This comment really makes me believe you are speaking of "copying" or moving files from camera/card to disk. If you are uncomfortable with the command-line, try rapid-photo-downloader, dolphin, konqueror, mc, krusader, ..... ps: did you ever look at darktable preferences -> config -> session options -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
