I *strongly* recommend that you use the 1-click install to be found here-
Interestingly, the 1-click installs distinguish between the KDE and Gnome desktops ... while I am user neither - and just want the thing going for VLC; strange.
Serves you right then for not using either KDE or Gnome :-D .
However, this still doesn't answer the question why the Linux version suddenly disappeared from "download.videolan.org".
No, it doesn't, and I cannot answer because I have downloaded and installed the files directly from packman or recently now use the 1-click install. But, all this does raise the question of why are those NOT using KDE or Gnome DEs not catered for in the 1-click install facility? openSUSE, no matter which DE is used with it, uses the RPM package manager. I notice that there is only a 0.4Kb difference between the RPMs for these 2 DEs - which I suspect would be solely due to the icons/widgets/whizzbangs (whoever came up with 'widgets' ought to be tested for IQ!) used in them. So, the question: what do others who want to use the other available DEs in openSUSE need to do to get their multi-media working?
Thanks & have a nice day, Berny
