I pretty much live, some days, with email and web browser, those being Thunderbird and Firefox. This last week or so I've noticed latency problems
For example, when I click on 'send' or 'spelling' there is a delay of more than a second before the dialog box comes up. There is no delay with typing in the composition window or scrolling the message list.
I get a similar effect in Firefox. If it were just Thunderbird I'd think that Thunderbird(gtk) on KDE on X was having problems creating new windows and dialog boxes (especially modal ones!), but with firefox there gets to be latency n scrolling. I don't think its just rendering as its not simply page or begin/end jumps. Scrolling one line at a time with the mouse wheel or clicking the arrow on the scroll bar has latency. And its a 'sometimes' phenomena and that 'sometimes' can apply to the same page at the same site.
When I use the bottom pane to switch application windows there is no latency.
And no I'm not running Plasma and yes I am fully up to date

Any ideas why the latency?
I have also experienced latency but in my case it is with the save page dialog which can take as long as 5-10 seconds to popup. One thing I have noticed when this happens is a plug-in that hogs resources (can't remember which one).
Since you're using KDE I assume you're on a Linux system. When you see this problem try opening a task manager and set it for cpu usage to see if that is your problem or if FF or TB is hogging resources.

Just updated to Tbird 31.1.0 and I'm not seeing any more latency than usual either spelling pop up or sending or scrolling. The FIRST TIME clicking Save As there is a delay, certainly not 5 seconds, but after that first time it is instantaneous. Maybe we have to look at what video cards are involved? I'm using an old radeon with the community drivers. -- Explain again the part about rm -rf / -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
