We now need (affordable) multiport graphical cards. Meaning, a single card that can handle several fully independent displays. Useful not only for multiseat, but for panoramic multi displays and such.
Ah, "affordable". You mean a 4-pot card that costs less than 4 single cards, or possibly a the overhead of a mobo that has 4 high speed slots for graphics cards.
Yep. Exactly that :-) And possibly less electricity. It may cost a bit more than the four cards, but there are not many mobos with 4 slots, which you may also need for other things.
http://www.nvidia.ca/object/nvs-310-graphics-card.html For under $100 that seems a good option. If I ever go for a multi-display desktop myself I might consider that.
Here's a 4-port http://www.visiontek.com/vhdci/hd-5570-4-port-vga.html It strikes me that it is short on memory. It also only produced analog output.
This http://www.visiontek.com/quad/hd-4670x2.html is a bit better. Price seems to be just over $100. TigerDirect are out of stock
Ah, then there are possibilities, yes. Good :-) Not that I need this at the moment, but it is certainly something to consider. If it is easy to setup in openSUSE, and gets some publicity, normal people may consider using it. Families, for instance. What about sound? For some uses it is important, like in a family. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 13.1 x86_64 "Bottle" at Telcontar)
