Hi all, I already asked this on our local list, but no advance yet. I have a dual oS 12.1 (64 bit, KDE 4.9.5)/ Win7 (32 bit) system. I wanted to upgrade to oS 12.2. Since my DVD reader does not work, I created a live CD with KDE on a CD disk with K3b (of course to be used in another optical drive), and also prepared a live USB with the same content with image writer. I set the boot sequence in BIOS but to no avail. I got a black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left corner and the process stopped here. When removable disk is before HDD in the boot sequence then the system boots as normal from HDD, that is USB skipped. But if CD drive is before HDD then booting locks up with that black screen. The HDD is SATA, the optical drive and another HDD is on an IDE cable. I changed the IDE ribbon cable, upgraded BIOS, reset BIOS to factory default, but did not succeed. Also tried all six USB ports, but nothing happenned. The USB ports and CD-RW work normally either in oS or in Win7. The motherboard is ASUS P5Q-EM, with 3 GB DDR2 RAM. Any help is welcome.
