I guess I must elaborate - I tried re-burning 12.1 - once got the
error message like 12.2 and once like before, nothing but the
cursor in the top left corner of the screen.

Going to try an take the ISO to my sons' computer and burn it there
and see what happens.
Just try to boot your existing DVD in another computer instead of
burning more. Also, you can use the selfcheck feature on the boot menu.

How can I use the selfcheck feature when the same DVD will not boot ?

Can I boot an old version and use the selfcheck on the that won't boot ?

Also, I found out my DVD drive has gone ballistic. I remembered I had a USB drive and burned the ISO using it. The DVD booted fine.

Now to save money for a new drive..............
