First of all I have a question: do I have to install xulrunner or not?
No. All needed files are in MozillaThunderbird.
I use to set Mozilla repo for updates as normally it has newer versions but recently I've seen a warning for a reccomended patch installation about Mozilla so I switched back to OpenSuse repo.
Yeah :-( Sometimes the patches contain higher release numbers because of build counters. In almost every case this is just a bogus warning as the stuff in mozilla is at least at the same level as the official updates. (As updates are prepared there and submitted when ready.)
I will give it a try to update to 11.0.1 from Mozilla.
