I am new to OpenSuse, so if the fix is not easy, I better just suffer along with the beta version of Firefox that installed with 11.4.
You should be able to update to the full Firefox 4 release using YaST Software manager.
But I have installed Opera and it is faster at loading than FF, so I would prefer to use that one for now.
Opera is a nice browser choice.
When I go to Control Center and Preferred Application, I only have FF showing up, there is no option to switch to Opera. Any help is appreciated. This is my third or fourth attempt to switch to Linux. I think I am going to make it this time.
Are you using KDE4 or Gnome? In KDE4, you click on the Geeko (menu) > Configure Desktop > Workspace and Behavior > Default Applications > Web Browser. Select "in the following browser" and then on the right hand side of the field that says firefox, there is a button with an ellipsis (three dots). Click it, and navigate through the menus to Internet > Web browser > Opera (or you can type opera %U in the field that currently says Firefox).
