Are you sure that the imaps service that xinit triggers is dovecot? I don't think so, you probably have set up different imaps services at the same time.

The "imap-login" is surely from dovecot, but the other one I don't know, but it must also be from dovecot - as I don't have wu-imap and I get an output similar to yours. It shows without grep:
root 21228 0.0 0.0 6128 712 ? Ss Dec09 0:00 /usr/sbin/dovecot root 21229 0.0 0.0 68788 1660 ? S Dec09 0:00 _ dovecot-auth root 1638 0.0 0.0 79340 3136 ? S Dec15 0:00 _ imap
And I certainly do not have imap in xinit.
I removed imap package and dovecot still works and I still have access to remote/local mail via imap. I now have no /etc/init.d/imap*, either, and the service is no longer running. I believe I was following instructions from the internet (?) that included starting imap service via xinit.d and enabling that service required installing imap. Anyway, it apparently is *not* necessary and is now gone :^) And mail still works. Unless I begin serving mail for someone other than myself, I see *no* need for the hoops, dovecot/squirrelmail/imap. Remote access via ssh is sufficient. The only possibility I see atm is being somewhere with *slow* internet service, and that would cause difficulty in either case. -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
