Hi,
I have googled and googled and not found what I feel is an accurate or up-to-date documentation on the recommended way to build a kernel for OpenSuse. There is plenty of general information, but I have a feeling that the most proper way is to build an RPM and install it? Can someone refer me where I should look
I want to build a kernel with a patch (https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/350841/) to get the touchpad working on my Dell Precision M4500 so the kernel version that is in 11.3 is fine with me.
Rough outline from memory: install kernel sources cd /usr/src/linux apply patch zcat /proc/config.gz >.config optionally make menuconfig to amend config. make make modules make install modules_install mkinitrd update boot loader. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (-0.6°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
