Listmates, Regardless which side of the k3/k4 experiment you side with, having kde3 available in 11.3 is a huge plus for the community. Some critical applications (quanta, kxmledit, etc..) are either only found in kde3 or only work well in kde3. I know there are others involved, and I would like to take a moment to thank Will Stephenson, Dotan Cohen and all others that contributed to making this a reality. Good job guys. As long as upkeep is minimal (and it is at this point) there is no reason to ever drop kde3. We still maintain openbox, lxde, fluxbox, ICEwm, windowmake, enlightenment, twm, xfwm4, etc.. no reason not to do the same for kde3. A recompile of libjpeg, libpng, poppler-qt3, etc.. is a small price to pay for the utility provided by kde3. If I didn't name you and you contributed, it doesn't mean I'm thanking you any less, it just means I don't know who you are. Just drop me a note and I'll make sure to give you a proper thanks -- as well as add your name to my short list of people to pester when things go south :p Seriously.. Thanks. -- David C.
