does not work when entering a message number like "Message-id:
" as seen in http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-project/2010-06/msg00366.html Ah, no. N is not the message id, but the ID number of the email in the archive, which is just a number. Unfortunately, there is no way to know that number... Time ago, the number was recorded in a hidden header, but no longer. I don't think you can see it in the archive, either.
so, the instructions in the wiki are wrong, and should be removed?
No, the instructions are correct. You have to know the ID number, and you don't.
If you miss messages, you can read them in the archive, and also you can download an mbox archive of each month, which you can import (or use) in thunderbird.
so, is there no way to respond to a message which was sent (say) yesterday before i subscribed?
Of course you can. Just retrieve the mbox archive I told you above, import it, read and reply to any email you like. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
