Hi All,
I give up as time is my enemy :-) Does anybody know about a USB Wireless adaptor that works out of the box with openSUSE 11.2 by any chance?
I need to order it, get it delivered, then configured and run off to Brainshare Amsterdam by next Monday :-)

Greetings,
Has any one successfully got wireless to work?

Jimmy, wouldn't be easier to spend half an hour making your internal wi-fi work?
Unless he's a wizard, my guess is it will take a lot more than half an hour if it doesn't already work. But it depends. I believe more details are necessary if it's going to work, and I'd be surprised if things work "out of the box" with a USB adapter, as in just plugging it in and have things work straight off. For instance, cleaning out the old attempts might be a good idea. I haven't seen any report about how far you got it to work, but I may have just overlooked it. Perhaps this info might help, but again, it depends (e. g. on whether you're using DHCP, WPA2, Networkmanager/Knetworkmanager or not etc.): http://forums.opensuse.org/install-boot-login/430738-wireless-connection-dis... Check for the bits about /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan0 and the example for a correct such file. Especially check for Knurpht's mention about "AUTH_MODE cannot be "open" with WPA/WPA2." This did it for me on a built-in wifi, didn't get it to work with a D-link USB dongle (sorry, can't remember the name ATM). You might also want to try if switching to wicd (http://wicd.sourceforge.net/) helps solve the problem. There's at least one person on this list who reportedly always got wireless to work even on laptops. Perhaps he's got useful info to contribute with. If not, there's some info in the list archives.
