Listmates, Out of all the plasmoids that kde has, there are a couple that are really useful. One that I haven't ever heard about, but played with a little is "daisy" which is a circle of app launchers. It handles 7 apps + the center opens dolphin to the "applications" service (your start menu in tree mode) which gives you access to all apps. It's like having your start menu in the center of the ring. You will need to shrink it down from it default size. I have it running at about 110 px diameter and it works fine. A small screenshot: (5k) http://www.3111skyline.com/download/ss/kde4/plsm-daisy.jpg Another good one is the weather app "Customizable Weather Plasmoid (CWP). Here is daily + CWP: (21k) http://www.3111skyline.com/download/ss/kde4/plsm-daisy+wx.jpg Ditch plasma's standard "Analog" clock, it takes too much real estate. Go with the digital clock: (3k) http://www.3111skyline.com/download/ss/kde4/plsm-dclock.jpg Then you have your standard system monitor CPU and Network: (11k) http://www.3111skyline.com/download/ss/kde4/plsm-cpumtr.jpg (10k) http://www.3111skyline.com/download/ss/kde4/plsm-network.jpg And as I have posted before, the "Quicklaunch" let's you pack more apps into less pixels than anything other than krunner: (5k) http://www.3111skyline.com/download/ss/kde4/plsm-quicklaunch.jpg There are 55k worth of pixels showing some of the squatcheloids I have found useful. (for further technical background, google "squatcheloid" - it is a 2-dimensional paradigm for describing a 3-dimensional constraint :-) -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
