Guys,
Just a heads up. After the openSuSE update to drm-all-kmp-desktop-20091203_2.6.31.5_0.1-1.1.x86_64.rpm, all compositing is broken for the Radeon RS690M card (x1200). After update, the box blackscreened. Adjusting xorg.conf to explicitly set Device=radeon allows X to start, but KDE4 Desktop Effects are completely unavailable and Enlightenment DDR16 (E16) has no background, no window decoration, and no checkboxes, slider, etc... I have tried grabbing the latest radeonhd from the git repo, but there is a bit of a compile bug at present. I know Arch is also having problems with the 'early start' of the kernel module due to an initramfs issue that may be xorg related, but that is about all I know.
Does anybody else have any additional info on this issue?
I'm using 1.3.0post_091129_98d1d5f-3.1 from Opensuse Build Service with a Mobility Radeon X1400. Just installed it today. It is listed as the latest. Computer did Black Screen. Ssh in and init 3 followed by init 5 solved that. After a reboot it worked fine. Compositing does work, no artifacts, most effect are reasonably fast. Glxgears is pathetic with compositing on, but alt-shft-F12 to turn off compositing and its pretty reasonable (300fps) and very smooth. However, xine and VLC both crash immediately with compositing turned on. They work with it turned off. I do not have ANY xorg.conf in /etc/X11/ . -- A computer without Microsoft is like a chocolate cake without mustard. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
