Hello,
I'm trying to setup openSuSE 11.1 as a guest in VirtualBox 3.0.6 - the host is Mac OS Snow Leopard/10.6 if it matters.
When I performed the initial install, the graphics configuration automatically selected 16 bit and 800x600. I tried to change it to 1024x768 but the installer told me the framebuffer could not handle that size (I forget the exact error).
So I finished the install in 800x600.
Then I tried to run Sax2 thinking maybe it would be better able to make changes then the installer.
However when I try to pick a different size in framebuffer mode, after I choose Test the whole screen goes really weird, it kind of breaks up in little sections that are all scrambled and if I move my mouse around it scrambles them even more. It's hard to explain, but it's totally unusable - I can't even see where the Cancel button is.
Try to install Virtual Box Guest Additions, you then will continue to have a virtual video, but certainly with better performances and versatility.
