Listmates, I have a puzzling problem on my laptop, a HP 6730b, involving screen brightness. Let me outline the problem by giving you a list of things which don't work as I expect them to. - If I boot the laptop while attached to the power supply, it boots with normal screen brightness. - If I boot on battery power, it boots with dimmed screen brightness. - When booted on power supply and then unplugged, the screen does not dim. - When booted on battery power and then plugged in, the screen does not brighten. - When using the fn-keys to change screen brightness, nothing happens. - When using the brightness slider in the Power Management widget (or whatever it's called), nothing happens. - Powerdevil is configured correctly with different profiles. Switching profiles does not change the brightness. The laptop has a Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset and compositing is enabled. In /var/log/messages I don't notice anything about powersaving or some such. Other than configuring Powerdevil (which I have), what can I do to make this work? I am running openSUSE 11.1, with KDE 4.3. Kind regards, Joop -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
