Hi,
"Ken Schneider - openSUSE"
The only way eth0 can be active is if you have a cat5 cable plugged in.
Nope, no cable plugged in...
Show us the results of ifconfig.

I have manually assigned 192.168.1.4 to eth0 and 192.168.1.3 to wlan0 and ifconfig does not show them!? /etc/resolv.conf and /etc/hosts are okay The Knetworkmanager icon says:"unavailable" at mouse over....
