The day when KDE 3 will no longer be viable is getting closer every day. Please tell me what problems you are having with KDE 4.3 so that we can get them fixed. KDE 3 is great because it is mature, configurable, and feature-laden without being bloated. I do not want to see that go to waste! It is the KDE 3 holdouts who have the attention to detail to distinguish the "little things" that make KDE 3 so great that are currently lacking in the KDE 4 branch. ...
One thing that I missed in KDE4 is "session" menu in konsole (see attached snapshot). In KDE3 if mc is installed, mc sessions are automatically added to this menu (both as user and as root). In KDE4, konsole has profiles instead. I could not manage with them in 4.1 (the created profiles have not been saved, some profiles were duplicated and so on). 4.2 and 4.3 work better, but still one have to create necessary profiles manually and I still have the profiles duplicated randomly for some reason. I have to admit that I did not install KDE 4.3 directly. I started from 11.2 with KDE 4.1.2 that was terrible. Then I updated it to KDE 4.2 (using factory repository) and then to KDE 4.3. Maybe in clean 4.3 install it will work better... -- Mark Goldstein
