If you do install new software - and actually succeed (?) in doing so - where does the software go and how do you start it?
Software often comes as scripts or binary executables, and is typically installed /usr/bin You start it by entering the name of the exectuable on the command-line, on in the Run Command window (Alt-F2 in KDE) or by finding and clicking on the entry in the menu in your windowing system.
I did (hopefully) install OpenOffice 3.1, but cannot find anywhere an nice icon to click on and thus start the software.
On my slightly outdated 10.3 system, it's on the first menu when I click on the chameleon/ K menu. If you can't find it, try opening a terminal window and type "soffice". /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (15.4°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
