I'm trying to figure out what's blanking my screens, when both power settings and screen saver are both configured not to do it.
For some reason, though, BOTH machines blank their screens after a few minutes. So I'm constantly clicking the KVM and jigging the mouse to get the display back, and if I'm not fast enough, I need to enter my password again. It's getting pretty tiresome.
Does anyone here have an idea what might be causing the blanking? If a screen saver is configured _not_ to do that, does it fall back on some kind of default that does it anyway? Would I be better off to allow the screen saver to engage, but set it to a longer time before it does?
Are you running KDE4? I had the same problem and tracked it to an annoying setting in the "Personal Settings" window. Start up the "Personal Settings" Go to Advanced > Power Management > Edit Profiles and check what the settings are for "When the system is idle for more than..." Mine was set to 4 minutes, and "Turn off screen". This setting overrides the screensaver settings, and the settings in General > Display > Power Control.
